Just 7km from Killarney’s town centre is the beautiful Torc Waterfall. The falls are approximately 20m in height and are surrounded by thick, lush greenery. The waterfall is most spectacular after a heavy rainfall and can be enjoyed close-up from the base of the falls or you can enjoy a short climb to the top. There are a number of well-designed forest steps on a clearly marked pathway and a viewing point halfway overlooks Killarney’s Middle Lake and surrounding landscape. This is a great photo opportunity.
This path is also part of the long-distance Kerry Way walking route and there are several shorter circular walking routes which are indicated on a map in the car park.
There is a jaunting car (horse and cart) station just across the road from the Torc Waterfall car park. Jaunting cars can be hired from this point and you can enjoy a trip to Muckross House, which is within the Killarney National Park.
If you are going to do some of the walks in this area, we would recommend comfortable walking shoes/boots, raingear, a mobile phone, snacks and fluids.
Unfortunately, the forest floor and trails in this area are not wheelchair accessible.
Our concierge team would be delighted to help you plan your activities for the day.
